Shop Small This Christmas
It's that time once again when the supermarkets are packed with people trying to bag a bargain Turkey, town centres are heaving with people trying to balance bundles of wrapping paper and men are, well men are waiting until Christmas Eve of course! T'is the season to be stressed after all!
As a small business owner (and shopping enthusiast) I believe it is really important to shop small, especially at Christmas! The run up to the big day is super stressful for small business owners but I can guarantee they appreciate every single order, no matter how small. Remember, these purchases don't go on tropical cruises or sports cars, often they help pay the bills, support children attending extra curricular clubs and mostly put food on the table. There is a belief that shopping small is more expensive but often that is not the case and if you look more closely at just what you are spending your money on, I think you will be surprised. I think it is important to support both your local high street and small businesses.
So I have put together a small guide on just some of the treats you could be buying and gifting this Christmas from small businesses, that won't break the bank!
As someone who is known as a 'crazy dog lady' it just wouldn't be Christmas without some doggy decorations. I have a mixed set of dog decorations that have been lovingly painted by Kate. They are totally unique and definitely make your tree stand out! If you are looking for the perfect personalised decoration why not nab one of these super popular hand stamped ceramic baubles? Christmas car decorations are another popular choice and I have been obsessed with these car jars from TillySage for ages, narrowly missing out last year on a fab yellow beetle! You have to be quick though, as these sell out fast! Another piece that I have had my eye on for a year or more now are these banners from Darwin&Gray that are lovingly hand painted by Stacey.

If you are looking for the perfect way to reward your little ones for their good behaviour (at least in the run up to Christmas and ignoring the 11 other months of the year) then why not treat them to a letter from the big man himself?! These make amazing additions to Christmas Eve boxes and can be personalised to include all sorts of funny details. Stocking fillers don't have to be hard, why not give them something better than a lump of coal with one of these hilarious pencils from BeanieandBob? Christmas isn't just for humans so be sure to get your furry companions in the festive spirit with one of these cute tags from The January Rose. If you know someone who is partial to a Christmas craft or two then a knit kit from Lauren Aston is sure to keep them happy. Not up to the challenge? Then get the elves to make one, it'll pair nicely with this hilarious festive shirt.
This is just a small selection of the incredible handmade gifts that are on offer and with prices as low as £3.50, there really is no excuse not to shop small this Christmas.
