Dreams Really Do Come True- Office Tour

I feel like this post has been four years in the making, in that I have longed for a space to love for so long, not that I am an appalling slow writer. I have talked before about my previous office spaces when it comes to running my small business and about what I hoped for in the future. Mostly it was just for a space that wasn't painted bright blue and contained an ironing board. I like to dream big.

Well the opportunity came to dream a little bigger and to seriously consider what sort of work space I would like when we moved into our brand new home on 19th December. It really was a blank canvas in every sense of the word and although it was the smallest bedroom of the house and didn't look like much, I knew that it was everything I had ever wanted and could be a kick ass office. In essence I didn't have a lot to change from the set up I had previously- I already had a desk I loved, ample storage and all of the pretty decorative pieces a girl could ask for. The main thing I wanted was space and light, something I had always lacked in our previous home.

Now to most people that probably sounds a bit vague or like I am being one of those airy fairy types off the telly who doesn't really know what they want when it comes to decorating but for me I just wanted to have a space that I felt was usable. I wasn't bothered about paint or wallpaper- I just wanted somewhere that had a backdrop I could utilise for photos and somewhere well lit to support this. In terms of space, it had to be practical for the many hours I spend packaging. I didn't want to carry on with the precarious balancing act I had been so used to in my old 'office'.

To say my new work space came together quite quickly would be an understatement. I think the day after we moved in, I had my desk set up and two days later my storage units had arrived. The day after this it was just a case of box sorting, organising and faffing. The only new things I needed to invest in were a lamp shade, a new office chair and a rug to break up the grey carpet and they hardly broke the bank!

To say it's a bit of a dream come true would be a huge understatement. I am totally obsessed with this space and it feels so good to use it for every day business life. It's a space I love to be in and completely lose all sense of time in. There's definitely still more that can be done with it but I want to work in it, grow with it and learn more about the space before I commit to anything else like paint or wallpaper. For now, it is my dream work space.
